on a snowy wedding day in 2013, a mutual friend brought mekina and jessa together to second and third shoot a beautiful wedding day. although their careers had them separately (and sometimes together!) shoot more than a combined 360 weddings, these two friends got together often, frequently bonding over the importance of the wedding day hustle and how integral the second shooter's job truly is on a wedding day. on a girls trip to mexico in 2018, over a margarita or two, this idea for a prep school was born!

hi! i'm jessa, and i am the founder of love & light photographs. i believe in beach days, finding the perfect t-shirt, and champagne 'just because'. my little family keeps me on my toes and laughing every day. i didn’t dream of my wedding day my entire life. however, somewhere in between my opportunities, i found myself completely inspired by the modern wedding day. from photographing detail shots like magazine ads, playing dress up with gorgeous gowns, and being silly with the flower girl, i believe weddings are where my strengths truly shine. L&L is now a team of four and collectively we photograph 40 weddings each season.

hi i’m mekina! as a four year old I’d get caught having pretend weddings with my dolls. truth is, not much has changed as I grew up. my journey to photography began hustling as a 2nd photographer. what started out capturing beautiful couples in love with my best friend transformed into owning my own six-figure business. i have photographed over 230 weddings in the east coast and around the world and my passion continues to grow in building these relationships and documenting the love stories I get to tell along the way.
